    Fabulous

Large clean roomand polite staff made the night very pleasant. The lobby is spcious and late bar was great.

    Fabulous

The hotel was well run and the front desk were helpful and welcoming. Our room was very nice. The automatic closer on the bathroom door was somewhat annoying. Also the continual drone of traffic from the dual carriageway spoilt the atmosphere when on our balcony it could not be heard in the room however. Excellent meal at the old boathouse.

    Superb

Good room overlooking lake; quiet; pleasant staff; Interesting design; space

Buffet breakfast needs attention; too long under lights, drying up; not hot, returned bacon etc. I suspect it was then heated in microwave, not fresh, a smile was the response from waiter staff when challenged.

    Very good

Location / convenience Available at short notice Good value, especially breakfast.

Could do with larger size duvet on the bed (we had double room with one bed) I

    Superb

Beautiful location. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and a mix up over the rooms allocation was swiftly resolved.

It is a large hotel and I thought that there was not enough public areas for guests to sit and too small a bar to cope with the huge number of people staying. Having said that, there was a conference on over that weekend which probably accounted for the high volume of guests staying. This is the third time I have stayed here as I do like the hotel.

    Fabulous

Convenient, close to main road connections, great setting, peaceful location.

Movement of linen trolleys early sunday morning outside room

    Exclusive

leisure amenities, spacious room, excellent food, friendly helpful staff, lovely location.

The standard of decoration and soft furnishing left a lot to be desired, the room was sparse and the bed was of the standard found in cheaper accomodation, akin to Travelodge. The breakfast (cooked breakfast) was awful, with cheap, nasty ingredients. That said, staff were pleasant and courteous. On departure my partner requested two individual receipts, the first for the Thus evening, reservation in his name to enable business expenses to be refunded and the second night, reservation in my name for a social event and therefore not refundable, the receptionist was happy to provide separate invoices, unfortunately on our return home both invoices were in my name and my partner is unable to claim £129.00 in business expenses. A thoroughly underwhelming experience, we will not be returning to the Four Pillars Hotel chain again.

    Very good

Reception staff excellent, very helpful and friendly. Excellent facilities

Staff in restaurant at breakfast very poor service, had to ask for tea and coffee, plates not cleared until we had finished eating so they were piling up as we went along. Food at Boat pub on site poor, in fact the cost of main meal deducted from bill. Which was appreciated.

    Fabulous

    Location, ambience, comfort, restaurant food.

Confusing numbering of rooms within other room doors, it took us ages to find our rooms. It is not entirely obvious - e.g. Room 501 incorporating rooms 502/503/504 and when you eventually notice this after searching for 502 for ages and open the 501 door, there are rooms 502 and 503, but there is actually NO 504. These actual numbers may not be correct, but the idea is.

  • 6.6
    Good

nearly everything, staff as usual were excellent, food very good too

The room was hot and no a/c so very stuffy. The plumbing did not work properly and the water in sinks/bath did not drain away properly so not very nice, add that the room was hot and stuffy and i would not choose this room in the hotel again

  • 6.6
    Good

I liked the rooms, which were clean, and well decorated, and most of the things inside were functional. The hotel is in a nice location, and is a good place to get away for a weekend.

This is advertized as a luxury hotel, but it is not. Rooms are good but pretty simple. One of the chairs in the room was making noises as if it were to collapse. The room was placed next to an area where the laundry was handled in the morning (i.e. it was pretty noisy). The facilities - sauna, swimming pool, etc - are nice but small for such a big hotel.

  • 6.6
    Good

Matress was far too soft and had some broken springs. No air conditioning in hotel room, only fan, no fridge

Very nice hotel I love to go back again

Too many People kept walk outside my room because I stayed on the ground so they walked pass and some looked inside your room. That felt uncomfortable.

  • 6.2
    Good

Location was attractive and enviroment was very clean.

Small things really although we did like it but it was somewhere between smart and butlins at times. The doors need adjusting as too noisy when the close. The loo rolls were too cheap. The bacon at breakfast was not good. We suspect that the lack of air con would be a problem if it was hot and also the lack of sound insulation if you have noisy neighbours. Having said that some things were good and it has potential to be a very good hotel with some imagiative management.
